              A'RCHIVES. n.s. Without a singular, Dr Johnson says, which is a great mistake; as my examples will shew; [archiva, Lat.] The place where records or ancient writings are kept. It is perhaps sometimes used for the writings themselves.

              Though we think our words vanish with the breath that utters them, yet they become records in God's court, and are laid up in his archives, as witnesses either for or
